Hello! Aren’t you excited that we have a newsletter again this year? If not, blame Sheeba’s mom. She used to do one every year for their family so it’s her fault Sheeba does this.
Just before Christmas last year, Nick left Melaleuca. Things there just weren’t working out, and he had no room for promotion. So, for eight months we went back and forth between having him working temporary work and being unemployed. We were looking for something that fit just right. In August he was hired as the Human Resources Manager at Bernett Research. It’s a call center that does surveys. It’s a decent paying job, it’s full time, works with his schedule for school, and he never has to go to Idaho Falls! He had to go to Pocatello for training, but they actually paid him travel time. It’s nice to work for a company that understands that traveling an hour or more to work is not in the convenient category. He’s been there just over 6 months, and they’ve already given him a raise. The head honcho really likes him. It’s the only job he has now.
Sheeba still works at the Marriott. December marks 3 years! There have been some rough times with management, but that’s true in about any job you get. It’s still a great company and we’re lucky she works for them. She is still doing the hand sewing job for that pillow company, too. They like her enough that they had her train another lady last month.
Nick got into the Social Work Program at Brigham Young University – Idaho for the winter semester! It’s such a relief. If he didn’t get in the program it would have postponed his graduation even further. We don’t have much time to wait to graduate if he’s going to get a good career before retirement. Hopefully there will only be two years to go.
Brooklynn is growing so fast! When “they” say that kids grow like weeds, they sure weren’t kidding. She’s 20 months now (that’s a little over a year and a half). All of her teeth have come in. She’s been walking since about February. She talks a lot and says things very clearly. Our favorite word of hers is “Salsa.” She knows a ton of signs. It’s really easy to fully communicate with her.
We changed Brooklynn’s bed from a crib to a toddler bed about end of September. It only took her 2 nights to stay in bed all night. When she wakes up from nap or night time, she sits in bed and calls for us – says “mama?” – until we answer her. She even sits in bed until we open the door. Not sure how we got so lucky.
She’s an incredibly picky eater. She’ll eat anything if it’s pureed, but there are few “solid” foods she likes. Three things that she will always eat are yogurt, cheese and frozen peas. We’re glad she enjoys healthy things. She loves her babies and necklaces and cars. She likes to watch Pongo & Perdita’s Sing Along, Signing Time, Toy Story, and surprisingly football with Nick. She still very much enjoys being outside and going on walks. We haven’t had a lot of play time in the snow, but I’m sure she’ll love that, too.
Nick teaches in Priesthood in church. He’s also one of the Eleven year old scout leaders. Our ward’s kind of small though so there has only been one boy in there for the last little while, and he just turned 12 so there’s nobody right now. Sheeba is the Ward Informer coordinator. That means she types up the bulletin for Sunday service. She enjoys it. It feeds her creative and organizing mind. Brooklynn is in Nursery. She loves it. We’re pretty sure that if we put her in the right hallway and said goodbye she’d go straight to the Nursery room and not look back (but we don’t, promise). She has friends in there, and it’s so cute for them all to say hi to each other when we see them outside of church.
This is just a short bit about our lives. We have a website if you want to keep up on us more. Its www.awolfleylife.weebly.com
Merry Christmas, Happy New year, and Happy Holidays!
Warmest Wishes – Nick, Sheeba, & Brooklynn
